Getting Help

Many young people run away due to serious problems at home. Running away is linked to a number of problems that they may be experiencing either at home, at school and or in their personal life. You are not alone, around one in nine young people will runaway overnight before the age of 16, that is over 100,000 children each year.

At Talk..Don't Walk, we don't want these things to happen and we want to help you and your family. We can provide you with confidential help and support. This could be done in several ways. You could visit us at our Centre in Warrington, or you could email us at info@talkdontwalk.org.uk us or you can call our Helpline on 0800 085 2136 which is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What is running away?

  • Running away is when a young person chooses to leave home or care without permission, and the person looking after them is worried about them.

If you do run away you may:

  • Be a victim of crime on the streets or get involved in committing crime
  • Have increased health issues if you live rough, or
  • Find it very hard to go home, because you might be in trouble

Donations Help make a difference

£10 a month can make a real difference
It could pay for a young run away to receive a session from a qualified counsellor or could allow us to answer a call from a distressed parent and give them vital help and support to ensure that their child stays safe.
